2004 Bywater Home Tour

DE LA SOIL / MISSION UTOPIA COMMUNITY GARDEN

This garden is located at 2921 N. Rampart Street. The Parkway Partners' De La Soil/Mission Utopia Community Garden illustrates how neighborhood residents can transform a vacant, blighted lot into a productive and beautiful garden. There are several community gardeners who tend vegetable, herb, and flower beds, including an array of butterfly plants. Much of the harvested produced is taken to Belle Reve, an assisted living facility in the neighborhood, where fresh, seasonal produce is prepared. Also, community gardeners created natural areas in the space to help with the repopulation of frogs and toads. The garden is looking wonderful, and the gardeners will here from 12-5 to answer any questions. Be sure to end your tour with this wonderful garden!
